Collaboration for SDG Best Practice
SDG 17.2.4
Sunway University through the Sunway Centre for Planetary Health (SCPH), contributes directly to international SDG policy development and best practice collaboration as a key partner in the Planetary Health Alliance’s Planetary Health Roadmap and Action Plan. This collaboration, involving leading universities and policy networks worldwide, advances integrated solutions for human and environmental wellbeing in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 3, 4, 13, 15, 16, and 17).
Through this partnership, Sunway University contributes to the development, testing, and dissemination of international best practices for achieving the SDGs, based on comparative research and global evidence synthesis.
SCPH played a central role in identifying global challenges across critical domains—climate change, biodiversity loss, food system resilience, and public health—through systematic data gathering, measurement, and interdisciplinary analysis. Drawing from collaborative research and stakeholder consultations, the University contributed to evidence-based strategies and policy recommendations that align with SDG indicators and targets and that support the global exchange of comparative approaches to sustainable development.
As part of the roadmap’s analytical process, SCPH and other global institutions supported scenario modelling and trend forecasting to assess likely futures with and without interventions, providing an evidence base for policy coherence and strategic decision-making. The resulting Planetary Health Roadmap and Action Plan serves as a framework for governments and institutions worldwide to implement, monitor, and report progress on SDG-aligned planetary health outcomes, helping to standardize international best practice across sectors.
This engagement underscores Sunway University’s role as a global knowledge partner and policy contributor, strengthening the international community’s capacity to integrate scientific evidence, comparative research, and governance innovation into the ongoing development of international best practices for achieving the SDGs.
