Where Collaboration Meets Innovation: A Step Forward in Research and Partnerships

On the 13th of April 2026, an enriching afternoon of engagement and collaboration brought together industry and academia to drive research, innovation, and meaningful partnerships forward.

The session began with welcoming remarks by Prof. Sibrand Poppema, President and Vice-Chancellor of Sunway University, followed by perspectives from Mr Ricky Lim (Sunway Multicare Pharmacy) and Saif-ur-Rehman, Vice President of Novugen Pharma S/B, who shared insights on organisational vision and the value of strategic academic collaborations.

Highlights included an overview of  Sunway Multicare Pharmacy-SBMDC Innovation Hub by Prof Dr Goh Bey Hing, as well as a brief welcoming session by Assoc. Prof. Dr June Choon from the Head of School, School of Pharmacy, showcasing academic strengths and collaboration opportunities.

A key milestone was the formalisation of two strategic partnerships: 

• MOA – Sunway Multicare Pharmacy × Novugen Pharma
  A collaborative exploration of projects led by Sunway Multicare Pharmacy-SBMDC Innovation Hub that aim to strengthen Novugen's role in healthcare outcomes.

• MOU - Sunway University × Novugen Pharma × Novugen Oncology 
  A framework for long-term collaboration across research, education, and industry engagement, including student placements and future joint initiatives.

The session concluded with closing remarks, a group photo, and networking, fostering meaningful connections and paving the way for impactful collaborations ahead.
