Sunway University's newly expanded campus at Sunway Square served as the proud host venue for the UK-Malaysia University Consortium TNE & ECR Workshops, marking a significant gathering of academic leaders and researchers at the state-of-the-art Sunway Square campus. The event provided a sophisticated backdrop for high-level discussions on international academic cooperation.

Transnational Education (TNE) and Strategic Innovation
The morning proceedings commenced with a session titled “Transnational Education that Works: Best Practice Case Studies & Innovative Pathways.” Led by Dr Robyn Pyne and Dr Frances Tracy from Liverpool John Moores University, in collaboration with Dr Nurbiha A Shukor from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, the session provided a rigorous analysis of current trends and evolving frameworks in global education delivery.

The workshop featured a series of comprehensive TNE case studies from several esteemed institutions, including International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), National University of Malaysia (UKM), Lancaster University, Sunway University, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah, and IMU University. These presentations underscored the efficacy of cross-border institutional synergy and innovative pedagogical models.

Early Career Researcher (ECR) Engagement
The afternoon session was dedicated to the professional development of Early Career Researchers. The program included a networking forum and the formal introduction of the ECR Travel Grants. Key insights were provided by Philip Lew Chun Foong, Raihana Sharir, and Dr Rebecca Murphy, who shared their experiences transitioning from UK-based research environments to the Malaysian academic landscape.

Attended by over 50 delegates both in person and via virtual platforms, the workshops at Sunway Square successfully facilitated critical dialogue and strengthened the strategic bridge between the UK and Malaysian higher education sectors. The event served as a foundational step for future partnerships and continued bilateral excellence. It was also a proud showcase of the Sunway Square campus, a world-class facility built to foster global academic collaboration and research. As a premier hub for the Sunway Business School and the Faculty of Arts, the new campus offers an innovative, sustainable environment that reflects the university’s commitment to providing a world-class venue for international partnership and excellence.
