Sunway University Meets with Danish Universities of Applied Sciences
Sunway University recently received a visit from representatives of the Danish Universities of Applied Sciences. As institutions for higher education and research, the Danish Universities of Applied Sciences span over 26 locations throughout Denmark, offering degrees through both in-person and online delivery modes. Their programmes focus onthree main scientific fields, namely technical sciences, computer science, and business studies.
The visit opened with an introduction by Professor Chai Lay Ching, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education, Employability and Alumni), who highlighted Sunway University’s identity as a Mission-Driven, 5th Generation University. She emphasised the institution's core pillars of sustainability and graduate employability. Prof Chai was joined by the Deputy Deans of Internationalisation from across the university’s schools and faculties.
A major highlight of the visit was a deep dive into modern learning delivery, specifically the integration of AI tutors in education. Professor Malissa Mahmud, Dean of the School of Education (SOE), alongside Adam Shahrizman from Professional and Continuous Education (PACE), presented Sunway’s strategic approach to artificial intelligence tutoring.
Moving beyond the industry hype, the School of Education showcased how Sunway University is grounding AI in solid pedagogy and internal readiness. The session featured a demonstration of the AI Tutor pilot, an industry-collaborated tool designed to be curatable, context-aware, and user-friendly. This initiative underscores Sunway’s commitment to adopting real-world AI use cases that enhance the learning experience for the next generation of students.
This engagement marks a significant step in fostering international collaboration between Malaysian and Danish higher education. Together, these institutions aim to establish a shared commitment to refining learning delivery, ensuring that, as technology evolves, the teaching remains grounded in solid pedagogy and real-world application.
