Preparing Future Professionals for an ESG Driven World
The future of accounting, finance and auditing is evolving, and ESG is at the heart of this transformation.
Sunway Business School recently hosted an insightful dialogue session titled How ESG and Sustainability Reporting Will Transform the Future of Accounting, Finance and Auditing Careers, bringing together students and industry expertise to explore the growing impact of ESG on professional practice and career development.
Organised by Sunway Business for Society in collaboration with the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics, the session was facilitated by Dr Ho Wai Kee and featured Mr Khoon Yeow Tan, Partner in Learning & Professional Development, BDO Malaysia, as the distinguished speaker.
Drawing from his industry experience, Mr Tan shared valuable insights into the latest ESG developments, sustainability reporting requirements, emerging professional competencies, and the skills graduates need to remain competitive in an increasingly sustainability focused business landscape.
The engaging dialogue encouraged students to think critically about the changing expectations of employers, the expanding role of ESG knowledge across industries, and the opportunities available to future ready professionals both in Malaysia and globally.
A heartfelt thank you to Mr Tan Khoon Yeow for sharing his expertise and inspiring our students. Appreciation also goes to our student moderators, Ms Tan Yenni (Natasha) and Mr Swan Htet Aung, for leading a thoughtful and engaging discussion. We are equally grateful to everyone who participated and contributed to making the session a meaningful learning experience.
