Sunway University and Dutch Lady Milk Industries Berhad (DLMI) formalised a landmark strategic partnership today through the signing of a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) at Sunway University on 16 April 2026.
The MoC marks a significant milestone in bridging academia and industry, reflecting a shared commitment between both institutions to strengthen collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including research and innovation, talent development, industry engagement, the Digital Academy initiative, and partnership branding activities. The collaboration underscores a joint ambition by both parties to foster stronger links between academia and industry while accelerating innovation that delivers real-world impact.
The signing ceremony was officiated by Professor Sibrandes Poppema, President of Sunway University, and Madam Veronika Utami, Managing Director of Dutch Lady Milk Industries Berhad, in the presence of senior representatives from both organisations.
As a mission-driven, fifth-generation university, Sunway University continues to prioritise partnerships that deliver real-world impact beyond the classroom. “Sunway University is excited to work with Dutch Lady Milk Industries Berhad to drive meaningful progress together, creating opportunities for innovation, talent development, and impactful knowledge exchange. Through this collaboration, we look forward to combining our strengths to develop future-ready talent and contribute to solutions that benefit both industry and the wider community,” said Professor Sibrandes Poppema.
Reflecting DLMI’s focus on driving innovation and building a future-ready organisation, Utami added “This collaboration reflects DLMI’s commitment to continuously evolve how we operate and innovate. From enabling real-time insights in our operations to advancing our digital capabilities, we are focused on building a more resilient and forward-looking business. At the same time, through initiatives like the Digital Academy, we are investing in the next generation by giving students the opportunity to work in a live industry environment and gain hands-on, real-world experience.”
Through this collaboration, Sunway University and DLMI aim to build a platform for closer cooperation in initiatives that support academic excellence, industry relevance, and the development of future-ready talent. The partnership is also expected to open avenues for collaborative projects and engagements that bring value to both institutions and the wider community.
As Malaysia advances towards a knowledge-driven economy, this collaboration positions both institutions to play a more active role in nurturing talent and delivering solutions that matter. The MoC signing marks an important first step in what both parties hope will be a productive and lasting relationship.
