Double Honours For Sunway University: OBADA Prize 2025

We are proud to share that Sunway University has received double recognition at the Obada Prize 2025, with both a distinguished academic and a research student from the Research Centre for Nano-Materials and Energy Technology (RCNMET), Faculty of Engineering and Technology, being honoured for their outstanding contributions.

Prof. Saidur Rahman, Distinguished Research Professor and Head of RCNMET, has been selected as a recipient of the Obada Prize 2025 under the “Distinguished Scientists” category. The Obada Prize is one of the highest international honours in science, engineering, and technology, recognising individuals whose research drives global progress and innovation. In 2025, only eight distinguished scientists worldwide were selected for this prestigious award, and Prof. Saidur Rahman is one of them.

In addition, Dr Md Abu Zaed, a PhD student from RCNMET, was awarded the Obada Prize 2025 in the student category. This highly competitive recognition was conferred on only seven scientists globally, highlighting Dr Md Abu Zaed’s exceptional research impact and potential as an emerging scholar.

These remarkable achievements reflect Sunway University’s strong research culture and commitment to excellence and innovation. Special appreciation is extended to Prof. Saidur Rahman for his expert guidance and mentorship, which played a pivotal role in nurturing this success.
