Workshop Recap: Programme Development & Evaluation in Counselling Clinical Mental Health Settings – A Framework-Based Approach
We are pleased to highlight the success of our recent workshop, “Programme Development & Evaluation in Counselling Clinical Mental Health Settings: A Framework-Based Approach”, at Sunway University.
The session brought together a diverse group of participants, including members of the public, students, academic staff, and mental health professionals. Discussions centred on evidence-based frameworks for designing and evaluating clinical mental health programmes, with particular emphasis on formative evaluation and strategies to enhance self-management and emotional resilience among youth with chronic conditions.
Our distinguished speaker, Dr Keith Tye Sue Kiat (Institut Jantung Negara Malaysia), shared invaluable insights from his experience as a patient counsellor supporting heart transplant recipients, heart failure patients, and their families. His reflections on cultural sensitivities, resilience building, and the vital psychosocial role of counsellors in cardiac care resonated deeply with attendees.
The workshop was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr Pei Boon Ooi, Programme Leader of the Master of Counselling (Clinical Mental Health) at Sunway University.
We extend our sincere thanks to all who participated and contributed to the engaging discussions. Your enthusiasm and insights were key to making this a truly impactful and memorable event.
