Team Spark Aura Crowned Malaysian Champions & ASEAN Runners Up at TNB Aura Startup Wars
Sunway Business School is proud to share that Team Spark Aura, comprising Tan Ler Xuan (Bachelor in Finance, Year 3), Laetitia Valerina Anak Ilden Walter (Bachelor in Accounting and Finance, Year 3), Ng Chin Hua (Bachelor in Financial Analysis, Year 3), and Ng Jia Min (Bachelor in Financial Analysis, Year 2), proudly represented Sunway University at the Grand Final of the TNB Aura Startup Wars 2025, held at BINUS University (Anggrek Campus) in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 17 October 2025.
Organised by TNB (The Next Billion) Aura, a leading Singapore-based venture capital firm with a strong regional presence, the competition challenged undergraduate students to develop investment strategies and recommendations across three key industries: Asset Management, Beauty, and Cybersecurity.
Following an intense selection process, Sunway University secured five of the six spots in Malaysia’s National Top 6, with Team Spark Aura emerging as the Malaysian Champion and advancing to represent the nation at the ASEAN Grand Final.
Competing against top teams from Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Vietnam, Team Spark Aura showcased exceptional analytical thinking, creativity, and teamwork. Their strong performance earned them an impressive 2nd Place finish and a USD 3,000 cash prize, narrowly missing the top spot to Team Mitra Yoshuara Investasi (Singapore), represented by students from Nanyang Technological University and Singapore University of Social Sciences.
Although they narrowly missed the title, Team Spark Aura’s achievement stands as a proud milestone, reflecting their determination, intellect, and passion. True to their entrepreneurial spirit, some members were already preparing for their next challenge upon returning to Kuala Lumpur.
