SUSC Welcomes ASEAN Mobility Program 2025: Fostering Culture, Collaboration & Learning
From the 19th of February to the 25th of February 2025, Sunway University Student Council had the privilege of hosting the ASEAN Mobility Program at Sunway University, welcoming students from across ASEAN to engage in a transformative exchange of ideas, cultures, and experiences organized by Official Education Malaysia Global Services.
This journey enabled both student buddies and participants to explore and celebrate our shared ASEAN identity, fostering cross-cultural understanding and meaningful collaborations. The opening ceremony, featuring Prof. Mahendhiran Sanggaran NAIR, sparked insightful discussions on how ASEAN can unite for a stronger future through research, academic mobility, and shared values, solidifying our position as a leading academic hub.
Throughout the program, participants engaged in a series of enriching experiences. They visited 42 Kuala Lumpur and Sunway XFarms, gaining insights into innovation and sustainable practices. They participated in interactive traditional games with the Sunway Sahabat Society, experiencing the cultural richness of the region. A highlight was the "Waye Kito" Wayang Kulit Kelantan Festival, supported by Yayasan Hasanah and the Ministry of Finance Malaysia, showcasing Malaysia’s traditional shadow puppetry. Participants also visited the Pop-Up Study UK by the British Council, expanding their understanding of global academic opportunities. Additionally, the Leadership Workshop by Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute provided valuable insights into leadership development and regional collaboration, equipping participants with essential skills to drive positive change in their communities.
The program culminated in the ASEAN Universities Exhibition and Forum (AEF 2025) at Sunway Resort Hotel. Officiated by Mr Novie Tajuddin, and YB Dato' Seri Diraja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, this prestigious event brought together regional universities and marked the launch of the ASEAN Global Exchange for Mobility & Scholarship (GEMS) platform, paving the way for future academic exchanges.
A sincere thank you to Ms Angelyn Tan 'G'-Ling for facilitating this invaluable opportunity to connect with and learn from our ASEAN neighbors. We also extend our deepest appreciation to everyone who contributed to making this program a success, especially our dedicated volunteers from the Sunway University Student Council, who worked tirelessly to guide and support our guests throughout this journey. Their dedication and hospitality were instrumental in creating a seamless and enriching experience for all.
This program stands as a testament to the power of regional collaboration and the importance of fostering relationships across borders. As we reflect on this experience, we anticipate the continued growth of the friendships and knowledge cultivated here. We are immensely proud to have been part of this journey and eagerly anticipate welcoming more students in the future!
