Strengthening Academic Collaboration through the LPDP Scholarship Initiative

Prof. Dr Subhan Zein from the School of Education, Sunway University, recently represented the university in Jakarta from 1–4 November 2025 to advance discussions on Sunway’s inclusion in Indonesia’s prestigious Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan (LPDP) scholarship list of Eligible Universities.

During the visit, Prof. Subhan:

• Delivered a workshop titled “The Triangle of Academic Research” for Beasiswa Indonesia Bangkit (BIB) scholarship recipients under the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA), funded by the LPDP Ministry of Finance.
• Met with Dr Ruchman Basori, Director General of Education Funding Affairs (MORA), who expressed strong interest in collaboration through double degree programmes and cost-sharing initiatives.
• Engaged with Professor Ahmad Tholabi, Vice Rector of Academic Affairs at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, to explore partnerships in double degrees, joint research, academic staff exchange, and joint supervision.
• Followed up with Mr Agam Bayu, Division Head of Scholarship Affairs at the LPDP Ministry of Finance, who provided key recommendations for Sunway’s inclusion in the LPDP scholarship scheme.

This visit marks an important milestone in strengthening Sunway University’s collaboration with Indonesian higher education institutions, fostering opportunities for joint academic development, and supporting Indonesian scholars in pursuing their studies at Sunway.
