Future of Work – Will AI Replace Business Analysts?
Sunway Business School’s Department of Business Analytics recently hosted an engaging forum titled “Future of Work – Will AI Replace Business Analysts?” on 27 October 2025, featuring insightful discussions on the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence and the business analytics profession.
The session welcomed two distinguished speakers: Ts. Dr Ahmad Khalid from UZMA and Adjunct Practice Professor Cheah Kok Hoong, Chairman of Steerquest, who shared their perspectives on topics such as the Cobra Effect and Jevon Paradox, the evolving role of business analysts, and the realities of what AI can and cannot (yet) do.
Both speakers emphasized that while AI continues to transform industries, it will not replace business analysts. Instead, it will augment their capabilities, enabling professionals to think more strategically, innovate effectively, and bring the essential human touch to data-driven decision-making.
The forum encouraged students and professionals alike to embrace AI as a powerful tool for progress while continuing to develop the critical thinking, creativity, and empathy that define the human edge in business analytics.
