17th ESAP Symposium Explores Language, Culture & Society

The Centre for English Language Studies (CELS) Sunway University together with Sunway University's Marketing team has successfully organized the 17th ESAP Symposium which focused on the connection between language, culture, and society. After Sunway President Professor Sibrand Poppema's opening address, our esteemed keynote speaker, Associate Professor Csilla Weninger, from the National Institute of Education, Singapore set the tone for the symposium and discussed key issues on how digital literacy is shaped and being shaped by the contexts in which meaning making happens.

Lively workshops provided an opportunity for participants to learn readily applicable strategies and techniques which they can implement in their own classrooms.

Finally, a closing plenary by CELS' head, Associate Professor Nicholas Lee, offered final reflections on why culture and identity cannot be ignored in the classroom.
