Power Electronics Enabling Sustainable Transportation Electrification and Funding Opportunities for Study and Research in Germany
Germany’s climate target is to achieve greenhouse gas neutrality by 2045, in which the transportation sector plays a significant role in realizing this goal through electrification. Accordingly, energy storage is required for land, air, and marine electric vehicle propulsion systems, while power electronics serves as a key enabler of electromobility. Within this context, the first part of the talk discusses the motivation of energy transition and electrification of transportation. Subsequently, the talk presents an overview of the current state and trends of power electronics conversion systems in electromobility. Then, the presentation on high-efficiency bidirectional isolated dc-dc converters for battery-storage applications will be provided. The second part of the talk is aimed at information sharing on selected individual or collaborative research funding opportunities and post-doctoral fellowships, with the hope of increasing cooperation between academics and researchers in Germany and Malaysia.
